Abstract

Infection by the Dibothriocephalus sp. (Diphyllobothrium sp.) Linnaeus, 1758 remains an urgent problem of medical services, including the Perm Territory. At the same time, descriptions of pathological and anatomical changes at this helminthiasis are few in the literature, in connection with which, each lethal case is of considerable interest. Materials of an autopsy of the corpse of a 49-year-old woman who died due to intestinal obstruction with pronounced vascular changes in the intestinal walls are presented. Material preparation is performed using standard techniques, staining was preformed with hematoxylin-eosin. Acute vascular intestinal deficiency, severe edema and small focal hemorrhages of the mucous membrane and submucosal layer of the intestinal wall, cellular infiltrates of an inflammatory nature were installed. Perivascular focal cardiosclerosis, diffuse cardiosclerosis was noted as a result of vascular disorders of a chronic nature in the myocardium due to the presence of vascular pathology. Parenchymatous protein dystrophy of myocardial, kidneys and liver was a consequence of chronic intoxication of the body with the products of the life of helminth. The results obtained during histological examination expand the existing ideas about the pathological picture for diphyllobothriasis.
