I. GENERAL PROVISIONS

Articles are accepted only through the electronic form on the journal's website (SUBMIT ARTICLE button). Articles not formatted according to these guidelines will not be considered for review and will not be returned to the authors.

1. Before submitting an article to the editorial office, please carefully read the following materials:
- The thematic sections and focus of the journal, outlined in the "About the Journal" section on the journal's website;
- The provisions on the principles of editorial ethics of the journal "Medical Parasitology and Parasitic Diseases", which can be found via the link.

2. The Editorial Board and Editorial Council of the journal "Medical Parasitology and Parasitic Diseases" ensure the peer review (expert assessment) of articles submitted for publication. The Editorial Board adheres to the principles of the international organization "Committee on Publication Ethics" (COPE). An article can only be published after receiving positive expert assessments from two reviewers and, if necessary, a biomedical statistics specialist.

3. The Editorial Board reserves the right to make literary edits and abridgements of manuscripts for better readability, without changing the main positions of the submitted material's content. The date of receipt of the article is the time of receipt of the final (revised) version of the article in case of revision by the authors after peer review.

4. The data presented in the manuscript must be original. The Editorial Board does not consider materials previously published in other periodicals or submitted to other periodicals for publication.

5. Authors are responsible for the accuracy of the scientific results presented in the manuscript.

6. Plagiarism and duplicate publications. The use of dishonest textual borrowing and appropriation of research results not belonging to the authors of the submitted manuscript is unacceptable. Articles can be checked for originality using services such as https://www.antiplagiat.ru/ (for Russian-language texts) and  http://www.plagiarism.org/ (for English-language texts). The Editorial Board reserves the right to check submitted manuscripts for plagiarism. Textual similarity of 30% or more is considered unacceptable. Do not submit works published in other journals or submitted to other journals to the editorial office of the journal "Medical Parasitology and Parasitic Diseases".

II. RULES FOR SUBMITTING ARTICLES

1. The article must have a covering letter from the institution where the work was performed, and the signature of the supervisor on the first page, certified by a round seal. The letter must be scanned and sent by email as a separate file (in PDF format).

2. Copyright. By submitting an article and accompanying files for publication in the journal, the author (as well as all co-authors of this article, if created in co-authorship) expresses their consent to grant LLC MIP "P.G. SERGIEV SCIENTIFIC AND EDUCATIONAL CENTER OF PARASITOLOGY" an exclusive and perpetual right to use the article on a free-of-charge basis (exclusive, perpetual, and free license) within Russia and other countries:
- for publication of the article in print and/or electronic format, production of reprints of the article, placement on the Internet in both open and paid access, sending metadata or the full text to various indexing databases and repositories;
- for translation or other adaptation of the article;
- for making the article available to the public in such a way that any person may access it from any place and at any time at their own choice (making available to the public).

3. Language of publication. Articles from any country may be submitted for publication in the journal in the Russian language.

4. Formatting of articles.

4.1. General rules. The article should be typed in Times New Roman font, font size 14, line spacing 1.5. Page format A4, left margin 3 cm, other margins 2 cm. All pages must be numbered. Do not use automatic hyphenation. Spelling and punctuation must be carefully checked in the manuscript. The entire text part of the article (title page, abstract, keywords, article text, tables, reference list, information about authors) should be saved in a single MS Word file.

The length of original articles, including references, tables, figures, and abstract, should not exceed 12 pages; review articles up to 20 pages (including references); short communications, case reports, reviews up to 5 pages.

An original article should consist of the following sections: introduction, aims and objectives, materials and methods, results, discussion, conclusions or summary. An abstract of no more than 300 words in Russian and English without abbreviations must be attached on a separate sheet, reflecting the bibliographic information, a brief summary of the article's sections, and five keywords.

Translation of article metadata into English is mandatory (authors' names, official names of the authors' institutions, addresses, article title, abstract, keywords, contact information for the corresponding author).

The degree symbol must be authentic (°), not the letter 'o' in uppercase.

4.2. Title page. The title page must begin with the following information:
- Surnames and initials of the authors;
- Title of the article (to increase citation, it is recommended not to include geographical indications in the title);
- Full official name of the institution where each author works, in the nominative case, with obligatory indication of the organization's status and departmental affiliation;
- Address with postcode, city, country;
- Information about each author: full name, academic degree, academic title, position, author's email address, ORCID;
- Information about the corresponding author: full name, academic degree, academic title, position, email address, ORCID, mobile phone number.

4.3. Conflict of interest. Authors undertake to report any existing or potential conflicts of interest. A conflict of interest may be considered any situation capable of influencing the author of the manuscript and leading to concealment, distortion of data, or alteration of their interpretation. The presence of a conflict of interest in one or more authors is not grounds for rejection of the article. Concealment of potential or obvious conflicts of interest by the authors, if detected by the editorial board, may result in rejection of the manuscript's consideration and publication.

If there is no conflict of interest, state: "The authors declare no conflict of interest."

4.4. Funding. If the research and/or preparation of the article had financial support, the funding source must be indicated. If there was no financial support, this must be stated.

4.5. Abstract. The abstract is the main source of information in national and international information systems and databases that index the journal. The abstract should present only the essential facts of the work, avoiding lengthy discussions. In original articles, the abstract should be structured and follow the article's structure, including introduction, aim, materials and methods, results, and conclusions. The abstract should be accompanied by several keywords reflecting the main topic of the article and facilitating classification of the work in computer search systems. Keywords are listed separated by commas. The abstract and keywords must be presented in both Russian and English.

4.6. Structure of original articles. The structure of original articles should follow the IMRAD format (Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion). The structure of original articles should be: abstract and keywords in Russian; abstract and keywords in English; introduction; materials and methods; results; discussion; conclusions or summary (at the authors' discretion); final phrase: "Funding. The study had no additional funding. Conflict of interest. The authors declare no conflict of interest."

- Introduction. The introduction provides a brief review of relevant data, critical assessment of literature related to the problem, justification of the novelty and significance of the research, identifies unresolved questions, and sets clearly formulated aims and objectives explaining the subsequent research. Long analyses and lengthy historical digressions should be avoided.

- Materials and Methods section should contain information on where and when the study was conducted; inclusion and exclusion criteria for patients or experimental animals; description of the study method (cohort, prospective, randomised drug trial, retrospective, case series); detailed description of a new drug, method, modification, experiment, brief description of the standard operating protocol (SOP). Modern methods of statistical data processing should be used.

- Results and Discussion should be described in separate sections. Results should be clear and concise. The "Discussion" section provides a convincing explanation of the results and demonstrates their significance.

4.7. Publication of clinical cases. The article formulates the aim of the work with justification of why this particular clinical case needs to be published (what is its feature and/or what physician skills are demonstrated by this clinical example). An article containing experimental results must have permission for publication — it must be sent in paper form to the editorial office address or scanned and sent in PDF format. The permission form is free.

4.8. Abbreviations. The manuscript may be accompanied by a glossary of terms (unclear, capable of causing difficulty for the reader). Apart from generally accepted abbreviations for units of measurement, physical, chemical and mathematical quantities and terms (e.g., DNA), abbreviations for phrases repeated frequently in the text are allowed. All letter designations and abbreviations introduced by the author must be explained in the text upon first use. Abbreviations of simple words are not allowed, even if they are repeated frequently.

4.9. Requirements for illustrations. Each image is submitted as a separate file, which should be named for convenience (Surname_Figure 1). A reference must be made in the article text indicating where the figure should be placed. The figure caption should also be placed there. A uniform system of letter designations and image scaling should be used; images should be numbered consecutively in the text. Illustration file formats: jpg, png, tiff; resolution: at least 300 dpi.

Do not add any additional signs superimposed on the figures in the text; use the "one file - one figure" format without separate additional signs. All signs, arrows, numbers must be fixed and form one file with the figure.

4.10. Formatting tables. The table number must be indicated (if there is more than one table), and its title given. Abbreviations of words in tables are not allowed. All figures in tables must correspond to the figures in the text. Do not insert figures into tables.

4.11. Mathematical formulas. Mathematical equations should be presented as editable text, not as images. Variables should be italicized. Equations should be numbered sequentially. The degree symbol must be authentic (°), not the letter 'o' in uppercase.

4.12. Bibliographic references. The journal "Medical Parasitology and Parasitic Diseases" uses the Vancouver citation style (references are numbered in the order they appear in the text, regardless of the language of the work). Original articles should cite no more than 20 sources, reviews no more than 60, lectures and other materials no more than 15. The bibliography should contain, in addition to fundamental works, publications from the last 5 years, especially journal articles, links to highly cited sources, including those from Scopus and Web of Science. Any other additional information, if known, such as DOI, PMID, etc., should be provided.

Bibliographic references in the text are indicated by [numbers] in square brackets. Ensure that all references cited in the text are present in the reference list (and vice versa).

Journal titles in abbreviated form should follow the List of Title Word Abbreviations. Links to internet sources should be reliable and durable. At a minimum, provide the full URL and the date the link became accessible.

Do not cite dissertations or dissertation abstracts, nor unpublished data or retracted articles.

Considering the requirements of international citation systems, bibliographic lists are compiled in two versions: one in the original language "References" (Russian-language sources in Cyrillic, English-language sources in Latin script) and a separate block with the same reference list in Latin script (for international databases), repeating all sources. The surnames of Russian-speaking authors and Russian-language source titles (e.g., journal names) are transliterated. Article, monograph, collection, and conference titles are translated into English, indicating their language [in Russian] after the bibliographic information. When preparing the reference list, it is advisable to use freely available transliteration systems (e.g., http://www.translit.ru, section BGN).

4.13. Generic and specific names of organisms, infrasubspecific categories, as well as family names, must comply with the names adopted by the International Taxonomic Committee. The first time (in the title or text), the name of the studied organisms is written in full, in italics, e.g., Plasmodium vivax. Subsequently, the genus name should be written with only one capital letter, the species name in full with a lowercase letter, e.g., P. vivax. Family names are written in full, without italics.

4.14. When conducting experimental studies, authors must strictly adhere to the "Rules for Work Using Experimental Animals". When submitting scientific experimental work for publication, authors must indicate the species, number of animals used, and the methods of anaesthesia and euthanasia used. Works that do not provide the aforementioned data will not be accepted for publication.

The Editorial Board reserves the right to scientifically and literarily edit the article, abridge and/or return the article to the author for correction of identified defects, as well as to publish articles in the journal as short communications.

5. Publication fees.

From April 1, 2026, the cost for preparing a peer-reviewed manuscript in accordance with the Publisher's requirements, with subsequent publication in the print and electronic versions of the journal, is:

- 5000 rubles per 1 journal page (one page of the journal) for individuals;
- 7000 rubles per 1 journal page for legal entities.

The cost is the same for all participants — consumers of this type of service. The Publisher has the right to unilaterally change the cost of services until the Author pays the cost of services.

For members of the Editorial Board and Editorial Council, the placement of articles on the journal's website will be free of charge, provided that you are the first or last author of the article.
