Abstract

To assess the influence of genetic features of metabolic processes on the reactivity to opisthorchiasis invasion, biochemical parameters of the hepatobiliary system functions were studied in chronic opisthorchiasis patients with and without mutant alleles of polymorphisms associated with the type 2 diabetes mellitus. It was found that the presence of mutations in the genes PPARG and TCF7L2 (rs12255372), HHEX, IGF2BP2 and SLC30A8 enhances the opisthorchiasis negative impact on the activity of alpha-amylase and indicators of impaired bile secretion. The presence of a rare allele of the IGF2BP2 gene prevents an increase in GGT activity, and the presence of a rare allele of the CDKAL1 and SLC30A8 genes reduces the degree of increase in glucose concentration in opisthorchiasis.

Abstract

The article presents the results of studying the role of Opisthorchis felineus metabolites in the development of pathology in various hosts. It has been established that exometabolites initiate granulomatosis, sclerotic processes and act as a predictor of cardiomyocyte damage in hypereosinophilic syndrome.

Abstract

Despite the progress made in the diagnosis and treatment of opisthorchiasis, this problem remains more than relevant and significant in the Russian Federation and requires a comprehensive system of approaches to combat it. The paper reflects the situation with opisthorchiasis in one of the regions of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, where it occurs most often, identifies the clinical manifestations of this disease in the specified region, identifies the features of diagnosis and treatment in specific situations, as well as measures to prevent this disease.

Abstract

This article presents the results of a study of sanitary epidemiological surveillance (SES) among preschool and school-age children conducted in the pilot districts of Osh, Naryn, Jalal-Abad and Batken regions of the Kyrgyz Republic (KR) in the period from 2015 to 2021 and describes the relevance of combined parasitic diseases, in particular helminthiasis, the problematic issues of epidemiological features of the combination of helminthiasis with a large range of parasitic diseases to assess the true picture of the prevalence of parasitic diseases in children.

SES for parasitic diseases is a system for collecting biomaterials (stool) of children using preservatives and taking scrapings from the anus, laboratory analysis to determine the types of parasites and the dissemination of epidemiological information on the prevalence of parasitic diseases and children with mixed infestations, necessary for planning, implementing and monitoring preventive programs. 39398 children of school and preschool age up to 14 years were examined. Preschool children accounted for 36.3 % and schoolchildren below 14 years years old 63.6 % of the total number of surveyed. During the analyzed period, the total infection rate of children below 14 in the republic amounted to 10.9 % of the total number of examined, of which 5.7 % are girls and 5.2 % are boys.

Abstract

The data on the observed detoxification process of the proinsecticides indoxacarb and chlorfenapyr in the body of the German cockroach, Blattella germanica of several laboratory strains are presented. Different resistance ratios to indoxacarb of M10 (16.7×), DM (45.8×) and MAG (10.4×) strains, and chlorfenapyr (6.7×, 2.0×, 1.7×, respectively) against the background of high resistance to cypermethrin (92–833×), fipronil (46–192×), tolerance to chlorpyrifos (5.0–50×) and thiamethoxam (3.5–10×). The insecticidal activity of indoxacarb and chlorfenapyr was studied with desynchronized application of synergists PPB, TBTP, DEM - inhibitors of insect enzyme systems and an inhibitor of ABC transporters verapamil. The antagonistic action of synergists indicates the difficulty of converting proinsecticides into a toxic metabolite. In the M10 strain, PPB and TBTP significantly suppressed the activity of chlorfenapyr, while in DM and MAG strains, activity of chlorfenapyr suppressed only under the action of TBTP. For the DM strain most resistant to indoxacarb, the use of TBTP and DEM reduces resistance by 2.8 and 2.4 times, respectively. Verapamil has a statistically significant effect on susceptibility to chlorfenapyr only in S-NIID and DM strains, and to indoxacarb in MAG and DM strains.

Abstract

This review is dedicated to chigger mites (Trombiculidae) as vectors and reservoirs of infection in scrub typhus foci in South East Asia. Here we review biology, infection rates in natural and anthropurgic foci of scrub typhus. Vector competence of chigger mite species were summarized.

Abstract

The problem of differential diagnosis of myiasis and transient carriage is discussed from the point of view of doctors of clinical diagnostic laboratories. Several cases of unusual, controversial and exotic imported myiasis are described.
