The results of adult taiga ticks study (Ixodes persulcatus), flagged in the national park “Alkhanai” (Zabaikalsky Krai, Duldurginsky district), for the range of tick-borne pathogens was held. ELISA detected the tickborne encephalitis virus (TBEV) antigen. Genetic markers of Anaplasma, Borrelia and Ehrlichia were detected by real-time PCR, using the kit «AmpliSens® TBEV, B. burgdorferi s.l., A. phagocytophilum, E.chaffeensis/E. muris-FL». Virus prevalence according ELISA results reached 0.9 %. PCR revealed at least two pathogen in 49.8 % of ticks. Genetic markers of Borrelia were found in 31.1 % of cases, Ehrlichia and Anaplasma – in 13.5 % and 12.6 % occured samples respectively, TBEV RNA – in 1.7 % of ticks’ suspensions. From to four pathogens in one tick in 14.7 % of samples in eight different variants of co-infection. The most often variants were Borrelia with Anaplasma and Ehrlichia. At the same time, Borrelia more often was detected as single pathogen. The genotyping of Borrelia have shown the circulation of three pathogenic species on the territory: B. afzelii и B. garinii и B. miyamotoi. The genotyping of TBEV revealed the Baikalian subtype of the virus.
The manuscript raises question of the taxonomic status of representatives of the Paragonimus westermani species complex with an emphasis on lung flukes from the Russian Far East, where paragonimiasis is an endemic disease. The phylogeny was reconstructed using a divergence time calibration methods based on ITS2 and the 28S rRNA gene concatenated nucleotide sequences available in the GenBank database. It was shown that members of the “westermani” species complex are genetically distinct worms, characterized by explosive expansion during Miocene-Pliocene epochs, coinciding with the evolving of big cats, which probably contributed to the spread of paragonimiasis infection throughout continental Asia. Obtained data indicate that the subspecies status of worms that cause paragonimiasis in the south of the Russian Far East and northern China can be raised to the species P. ichunensis, and paragonimids from South Korea should be considered as a variety of P. ichunensis. The species name P. pulmonalis was reinstated for worms from Japan. We propose to consider older Indian worms with type 1 metacercariae as true P. westermani. Worms from India with type 2 metacercariae were left in the paragonimid systematics as Paragonimus sp. In view of the detection of new cases of paragonimiasis in the South of the Russian Far East, we characterized the epidemiology of the disease and described a clinical case of human larval paragonimiasis.
Clinical and epidemiological characteristics of cases of imported malaria in Tomsk region are given. The reasons for late diagnostics, connected with the treatment on the 3rd-5th days, the doctors' lack of vigilance concerning malaria, the untimely treatment are considered. For the purpose of differential diagnosis it is necessary to take into account the patient's stay in the endemic territory.
The article presents the results of natural opisthorchiasis foci survey in 5 districts of the Omsk region. The species affiliation and infestation of first and second intermediate pathogen opisthorchiasis hosts were determined. A retrospective epidemiological analysis was performed, it was based on the primary morbidity indications and the population infection degree. The level of local residents knowledge about opisthorchiasis prevention measures was asseced.
The article presents the population survey results in Kim Mi and Kim Hai villages of Kim Son district of Ninh Binh province the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for parasitosis by coproovoscopic and immunological methods. The population was found to be affected by clonorchosis and seropositivity according to four nosologies: clonorchosis, echinococcosis, toxocarosis, toxoplasmosis.
The antiparasitic activity of 40 disinfectants belonging to different groups of chemicals has been studied. Comparative tests were carried out in parallel using accepted and modified methods of parasitic research.
The studies allowed us to confirm the effectiveness of only 25 % of disinfectants with the declared antiparasitic activity, including disinfectants based on complex compound of iodine, oxygen-active, chloroactive, iodoactive compounds, and based on cationic surfactants in the prolonged exposure mode.
The data on incomplete compliance with the antiparasitic activity of 75 % of disinfectants has been obtained. The most active chemical compounds against parasites have been identified. The accumulated experience in this field of scientific research allows us to identify promising areas of methodological formulation in the development of the disinfection expertise of chemicals that ensure compliance with the criteria for assessing the antiparasitic activity of disinfectants.
The results of carrying out measures of nonspecific prevention of plague on the territory of the Central Caucasian high-mountain natural focus are presented.
When evaluating insecticidal treatment by the method of dusting Spermophilus musicus burrows with the drug "Biocifen", the effectiveness of 97 % was established for 27 days.
Concentrations of working solutions during wet disinfection containing cypermethrin and chlorpyrifos as active substances were determined.
To regulate the number of Spermophilus musicus – the main host of the plague microbe, drugs based on anticoagulants (DV bromadiolone - 0.25 %, diphenacum - 0.005 %, brodifacum - 0.25 %) were studied. Their efficiency is not lower than 80 %.
The conducted tests of insecticides and rodenticides, methods of their application can be used when carrying out extermination measures against vectors and hosts in natural plague foci in other territories.
CASE REPORTS
The Clinical Diagnostic Laboratory continues to share practical experience in diagnosing unusual or rare cases of human parasitosis. The findings in the feces of developing eggs and rhabditiform larvae of Trichostrongylus colubriformis are described. The necessity of differential diagnosis in cases of detection of nematode larvae in feces is substantiated.
The clinical diagnostic laboratory of the Martsinovsky Institute of Medical Parasitology, Tropical and Vector-Borne Diseases of Sechenov University continues to share its experience in diagnosing rare, complex, ambiguous cases of diagnosing parasitosis. In this publication, we consider several examples of diagnosing invasive amoebiasis based on microscopy of histosections of biopsy material after colonoscopy.
