Abstract

The article presents research data on the study of the fauna of ixodid ticks and their activity in the territory of the Kursk region. In the Kursk region in 2020-2024, 2 species of ixodes mites were recorded: Dermacentor reticulatus (Fabricius, 1794) and Ixodes ricinus (Linnaeus, 1758). The most common ixodid tick species in the Kursk region is D. reticulatus (57 %), while I. ricinus ranks second in the total proportion of collections (43 %). The proportion of ticks that carry borreliosis, anaplasma, and ehrlichia does not exceed 20 %. Borreliosis is the most common disease, and the percentage of infected ticks ranges from 8,5 % to 13,7 %.

Abstract

The article provides a systematic analysis of the epidemiological characteristics of foodborne biohelminthiases in the context of globalization. Using the life cycle of Opisthorchis spp. as an example, the key role of ecological interconnections in the "human-animal-environment" system in maintaining parasitic infestations is demonstrated. It has been revealed that traditional transmission mechanisms retain their significance, but their epidemiological potential is amplified by three interrelated factors: the transformation of dietary practices, the growth of gastronomic tourism, and climate change. The obtained results emphasize the need to adapt preventive strategies to the changing conditions of parasite circulation, which requires an interdisciplinary approach combining epidemiological monitoring, ecological research, and analysis of food behavior trends.

Abstract

The main reason for the spread of Trichinella infection among the population in most cases is the consumption of the meat of a bear, wolf, fox, domestic dog, less often domestic pigs. At the present stage of development of small and medium-sized businesses, the introduction of new technologies for cutting skins and meat of wild animals, the production of medicines from meat, lard, the deterioration of the economic situation, urbanization, impoverishment of the population and, as a result, the more frequent use of meat and semi-finished products in food, who have not passed a veterinary examination, lead to the risk of new cases and to a steady increase in the incidence of trichinosis among the population, which can lead to irreversible consequences. A comprehensive analysis of trichinosis in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation and in the Arctic regions was carried out.

The purpose of the study was to evaluate the current state and main directions of anti- trichinosis preventive measures in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation.

The objects of the study were the annual state reporting of two departments that control and monitor trichinosis for the period 2014-2018, as well as the analyzed literature data of the Ministry of Health regarding the diagnosis of trichinosis among the population living in the Russian Federation, including the Arctic zone.

It was established that the system of anti-trichinosis measures, developed and implemented in the conditions of the socio-economic structure of the country of the last century, made it possible to achieve certain epizootological and epidemiological successes. However, at the present stage, these preventive measures for the most part turned out to be unacceptable and do not give the expected epizootological and epidemic effect in the context of the reorientation of the economy to market relations.

It is necessary to create a unified program for the control and monitoring and highly effective diagnosis of trichinosis in the Arctic territories, to tighten control over the observance of veterinary and sanitary rules, to develop criteria for assessing the risks associated with the diagnosis of the disease in the population living in the Arctic zone with meat products, to regularly increase the level of knowledge of specialists involved in the diagnosis, control and supervision of morbidity.

Abstract

Filariosis caused by nematodes of the family Filariidae is a serious medico-social problem due to the complex life cycle of pathogens, diversity of clinical manifestations and diagnostic difficulties. In the Russian Federation, dirofilariosis is of greatest importance, while other types of filariasis are mainly found in tropical and subtropical regions, affecting mostly indigenous populations in hard-to-reach areas. Modern approaches to treatment include a complex of pharmacological, surgical and preventive measures with mandatory consideration of specific characteristics of the parasite and individual patient characteristics such as age, comorbidity background and epidemiological anamnesis. This differentiated approach increases the effectiveness of treatment, reduces the risk of complications and prevents drug resistance. The data obtained are of great practical importance and can be used to develop clinical recommendations for the management of patients with filariasis.

Abstract

The incidence of cancer among people is increasing worldwide. Modern methods make it possible to cure cancer patients in the early stages of the disease, but they do not help patients with metastases to other organs. Therefore, the synthesis of new medicine and the search for natural drugs to stop the progression of malignant tumors is very relevant. Back in 1929, Soviet scientists showed that crucin (frozen/thawed T. cruzi epimastig-otes) had antitumor and antimetastatic activity.

The review is devoted to modern views on the nature of this phenomenon. It turned out that the interaction of the parasite, host and cancer cells includes a number of mechanisms depending on the type of tumor, virulence and other characteristics of a particular strain of T. cruzi, the immunogenicity of parasites or their lysate, op-tions for stimulating the immune response, as well as the presence of proteins or enzymes that ensure selective invasion and destruction of abnormal cells by trypanosomes. According to the assumption, some glycoproteins of the surface membrane of metacyclic trypomastigotes, such as Gp82, can lower the level of autophagy of met-astatic cells and lead to their death. And the unique enzyme of the parasite trans-sialidase and its surface mucins are able to reduce the sialylation of tumor cells, which become available to T-lymphocytes and natural killer cells (NK) that destroy metastases.

Future research should aim to achieve a more accurate understanding of the active molecular and cellular mechanisms of the effect of T. cruzi lysates on cancer cells. Their goal is to use the antitumor potential of crucin in innovative therapy of cancer patients with distal metastases.

Abstract

The presented work presents the results of experiments conducted in vitro, aimed at identifying effective concentrations of aqueous emulsions of an acaricidal agent from the group of synthetic pyrethroids (active ingredient 5 % tetramethrin EC) against Psoroptes cuniculi mites - the causative agents of rabbit psoroptosis. As a result, it was found that the least concentrated, but 100% effective against ticks was a 0.01 % aqueous emulsion.
